Why obtain a certificate authorizing the distribution of property?

Before proceeding to any distribution of the property of the succession, the liquidator must obtain a certificate authorizing the distribution of property (at the provincial level) and a clearance certificate (at the federal level). For lack of obtaining these authorizations, the liquidator will be held personally responsible if sums are due by the succession to the fiscal authorities.
