What is a declaration of legal heirs (declaration of inheritance)?

The declaration of inheritance, sometimes referred to in everyday language as declaration of legal heirs,, is an official document that establishes the identity and status of the heirs of a deceased person. It is required when the deceased has left no will or when the provisions of the will can no longer be enforced.

In these situations, the declaration becomes essential: it allows the heirs and the executor to have their rights recognized by financial institutions, insurance companies, government authorities, and any other parties involved in the settlement of the estate. It thus facilitates all the steps necessary for the settlement.
