What are the civil union regimes provided by the Civil Code of Quebec?

The Civil Code of Quebec provides expressly the rules concerning two regimes:

The regime of partnership of acquests applies automatically to civil union spouses who have not made a civil union contract. We qualify it as the legal regime.

The regime of separation as to property can be adopted only by a civil union contract signed before a notary. The civil union contract also allows other agreements between the civil union spouses, such as gifts.
