For a boat, are all the names admissible?

No, some names are inadmissible. Thus, the Chief Registrar will declare inadmissible a name of a vessel which would be identical or likely to be confused with that of a Canadian vessel already registered or with a distress signal, or which, in the opinion of the Chief Registrar, is likely to be offensive to the public and which use is prohibited under any other federal law. The responsible Minister can also order that the name of a Canadian vessel be changed if he considers that the name would cause prejudice to the international reputation of Canada.
