Who can celebrate a marriage in Quebec?

In Quebec, the following persons can celebrate a marriage: the clerks and assistants clerks of the Superior Court of Québec appointed by the Minister of Justice, the notaries authorized by law to receive notarial acts and any other person appointed by the Minister of Justice. The last category includes in particular the mayors, members of municipal councils or borough councils and municipal officials.

Religious ministers (priests, pastors, rabbis) who are authorized to do so by their Church can also celebrate marriages.
