Why must we talk about virtual patrimony?

The patrimony of a person is constituted of both assets and liabilities. Assets are the property that we own, that belongs to us. Liabilities are an obligation to which we must submit or a debt which we owe.

The virtual patrimony, it is all of the rights and obligations of a person which find themselves in a computer or on a network.

The virtual patrimony comprises the files that we would have put on the Web, including audio and video files, the registrations that we could have made there, the property that we could hold there, the debts that we could have leave there and the documents and files that we would have transmitted by using a network.

For example, a virtual currency accepted by some merchants, such as Bitcoin, has a value and this currency is kept in your computer; so it is an asset for you.

In the case of a presence on the Web, it is thus preferable to speak about a virtual patrimony.
