The verifications suggested to the purchaser of a motor vehicle are the following ones:
-
Have the vehicle inspected by an independent professional;
-
Make sure to do business with an individual and not with a dealer or merchant. A good way to find out is to verify if the address appearing on the registration certificate of the vehicle is the same as the one appearing on the driving license of the seller;
-
Verify the purchase invoice of the seller to know if the latter is really the owner of the vehicle.

The purchaser should also verify:
-
If a creditor is registered on the insurance policy of the seller;
-
If the vehicle offered by the seller is affected by an hypothec or another charge. (It is in the RDPRM that these charges can be registered). - Know that if you do not make this verification in the RDPRM, a creditor could seize your new vehicle without being obliged to compensate you.
