Why is it preferable to have a written contract when buying a motor vehicle between individuals?

The sale of a motor vehicle which takes place between two individuals is not protected by the Consumer Protection Act as it is for a sale made by a dealer. The seller and the purchaser must thus discuss and agree on each of the clauses of the sale contract of a motor vehicle.
