Who can ask for an act of death or death certificate from the Registrar of civil status of Quebec?

Any person can ask for a death certificate with the Registrar of civil status, but only those who are able to justify an interest, such as the spouse of the deceased, a member of his immediate family or the officiating notary, can ask for an act of death. The act of death includes indeed more information than the death certificate. Both documents, however, have the same evidentiary value.
