The declaration of heirs makes it possible, in particular, to:
- identify the persons entitled to
inherit the estate;
- to establish their status as heirs;
- to enable the future executor or,
failing that, the heirs to take certain steps necessary for
the settlement of the estate;
- facilitate communication with
financial institutions, government authorities, and other
parties involved;
- to safeguard the steps taken
before the heirs have accepted or renounced the estate.
