Generally, a compliance notice may take the form of a glued-on label or a riveted metal plate and is permanently attached in a conspicuous location plainly visible from the vessel's operating position (helm). The information on this notice will vary depending on the year on which the vessel was constructed. Usually, a compliance notice will mention the name of the builder, the vessel's model and will usually contain the following statement, namely: "The manufacturer certifies that this product complies with the construction requirements of the Small Vessels Regulations as they read on the day on which the construction of the vessel was started or on the day on which the vessel was imported."
