In Quebec, unless he carries on a business, an individual can grant a #[movable hypothec]G[443]G# without dispossession only on certain property provided by law, in particular the road vehicles, a caravan, a mobile home, a boat and a watercraft.
Other allowed property are incorporeal property within the meaning of the Quebec Securities Act such as receivables, rights arising from an insurance contract and intellectual property rights.
In Quebec, the RRSP and the RRIF cannot be given as security.
