It is very important to keep a copy of the formal notice and, most importantly, obtain confirmation that the recipient has received it. That is why it is strongly suggested to send any formal notice by registered mail or through a bailiff.
Without proof of receipt, the recipient of the formal notice could claim to have never received it if the dispute were to end up in Court.
