What insurances have to be taken out by the syndicate of co-owners and which of those are the responsibility of co-owners?

The syndicat des copropriétaires must take out comprehensive insurance covering liability to tenants and third parties for the entire immeuble. This insurance also covers the private portions of the building and improvements made by the developer, provided that their value is included in the value at which the building is insured. In other words, the insurance taken out by the syndicate covers only the building in its original condition. Alterations or improvements made to the private unit, on the other hand, must be covered by the insurance of the co-owner of that part of the building.
