What is the rationale behind the condo fees?

The common expenses, familiarly known under the name of "condo fees", are used for the normal maintenance of the common portions (landscaping, cleaning of common portions, etc.). It covers all of the ongoing expenses and operations, with the exception of what is payable by the contingency fund. Condo fees are perceived by the syndicate of co-owners, usually on a monthly basis.
