Set of rules governing the economic relationship between married or civilly united spouses during their marriage or civil union, as well as the partition of their property upon separation or death of one of the spouses. In Quebec, spouses can be married or civilly united under the regime of community of property, separation as to property, or parternship of acquests. Spouses may be married under a foreign matrimonial regime if they got married outside of Quebec and their domicile, at the time of their marriage, was also located outside of Quebec.
