Child in the first degree

The concept of child relates to the descendance in the direct line of a person whose filiation, whether natural or adoptive, was legally admitted.

As to the degree of relationship, it is established by calculating the number of generations existing between a person and his descendant, each generation forming one degree. Thus, the son or daughter of Mr. "X" would be his child in the 1st degree, while his grandson or granddaugther would be his child in the 2nd degree, and so on.
