Expert witness

A person who by reason of education or specialized experience possesses superior knowledge respecting a subject about which persons having no particular training are incapable of forming an accurate opinion or deducing correct conclusions and who, for that reason, is called as a witness to enlighten the Court on a particular matter during a litigation or lawsuit; it is usually a professional, such as a physician, an engineer, an accountant or a certified appraiser.
