Canada mortgage and housing corporation

The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) is the federal agency responsible for housing. The CMHC's responsibilities include the implementation of the National Housing Act (NHA). The CMHC works to improve financial options regarding housing in Canada; it helps low-income Canadians access property and improves residential construction standards.

The CMHC offers mortgage insurance to allow lenders to provide mortgage loans with the lowest interest rate possible and to allow borrowers to realize their dream of becoming homeowners by making a down payment of only 5%. It also helps homeowners to renovate or refinance their property.
