Municipalities can "reserve" immovable properties for a two-year period. These immovable properties can potentially be used for municipal purposes, such as widening a street. The reserve prohibits, during its term, any construction, improvement or addition on the property affected by it, except repairs.
A reserve for public purposes shall remain in force for an initial term of two years and, on renewal, for a term two more years.
