Legal matrimonial regime

The legal matrimonial regime is the regime that will apply to spouses who did not choose a specific matrimonial regime in a contract before the solemnization of their marriage or civil union. In Quebec, for such cases and since July 1st, 1970, spouses married or civilly united are subject to the regime of the partnership of acquests, which is the legal matrimonial regime in this Province.
