Cadastre of quebec

The Quebec government undertook in 1997, a wide cadastral renovation of Quebec's territory. This renovation aims to form a single cadastre for the whole Quebec territory. It consists in assigning new lot numbers to existing lots and parts of lots across Quebec. The new series of lots starts with lot number 1000000, cadastre of Quebec.

One of the cadastral reform goals is to progressively eliminate lot parts, by first assigning a unique number to each part of the lot, then by restricting, after the cadastral reform, most transactions on parts of renovated lots.

Owners wishing to subdivide a renovated lot will first have to request a land surveyor to file, with the Department of Energy and Natural Resources, a plan identifying each subdivision of the lot, and to assign a new cadastral number to each subdivision.
