Determination of boundaries is an operation in which the dividing line between two contiguous or adjoining lands is fixed permanently by means of marks called "boundary marks" or "boundaries". To be acknowledged, the determination of boundaries must be performed by a land surveyor with the cooperation of the involved landowners. Following this boundary markings, the minutes of the boundary-marking operations will be drawn up and signed by the land surveyor and the subject landowners.
The minutes of the boundary-marking operations is called "amicable" if the parties have agreed on the marking of the new dividing line.
It will be called "judicial" if the location of the dividing line is determined by a judge.
