Proportionate share (lease)

A fraction having the lettable area of the leased premises as numerator and the total leasable floor area as the denominator. Thus, if the floor area of the leased premises represents 25% of the total leasable floor area of the building, the proportionate share of the lessee would be 25%. Usually, the lessee must pay his proportionate share of operating costs to the Lessor as defined in the lease.
