Universal legacy

The universal legacy is a bequest that assigns all the testator's property to one or more beneficiaries (e.g.: I bequeath all my property to my wife).

In short, a universal legacy is when someone leaves all their property (everything they own) to one or more people.

A universal residuary legacy is a bequest of all remaining property after specific assets have been left to other people (e.g., I bequeath the residue of all my property to my children).

It therefore includes all the testator's assets that have not already been the subject of a particular legacy.
