The Civil Code of Quebec grants identical rights to all the children, whether they were born of marriage, civil union or de facto union. The rules for parental authority and for obligation of support of parents also apply to children born of de facto union. Let us mention, however, that differences remain, for example concerning the rules for presumption of paternity, these ones will not apply to a child born of de facto union. Thus it means that no presumption will allow to identify the father of the child.
