Why require a notary as depositary of the source codes?

The notary, given his impartiality and his code of ethics, is the person quite indicated for this duty. Moreover, the terms of the holding of source codes by the notary are governed by the Regulation Respecting Trust Accounting by Notaries, RRQ c N-3, r 5 (Professional Code, CQLR c C-26, a. 89).
