The main characteristics of the title insurance are:
- A damage insurance resulting from an insurance contract concluded between an insured and a title insurer;
- The premium is a single payment;
- The insured is generally protected "against the future losses resulting from irregularities or events that occurred before the date of issuance of the insurance policy";
- The title insurer pays the legal fees related to the defense of the insured;
- The amount of the coverage is limited to the nominal value of the policy and can rise, the whole subject to the conditions set out in the policy;
- The policy is issued after an expert has verified the titles and the politics of the insurer.
