What is the problem related to the international nature of the Web?

Another problem raised by the use of the Web is the one related to the international nature of the services offered by suppliers, which increases the costs of intervention if the heirs or the liquidator of a succession wish to obtain the information related to the deceased's account.

So, your virtual assets can end up in several different places in the world and they will possibly be governed by the laws of different countries. Access to your data will be made more difficult if these ones are located abroad and governed by laws other than those of Québec.

However, the virtual assets of the deceased must have a certain value to undertake different procedures abroad or still, to enforce the contract signed by the deceased under a law other than that of Quebec.

The contract signed by the deceased with a service provider will bring to the heirs or the liquidator the main elements to settle the fate of the account opened by the deceased; while in the other cases, it will be the supplier's Terms of Use which were in force at the time when the deceased opened his account.
