What to do if the life insurance policy is not found, but you still have serious reasons to believe that the deceased had one?

If you have valid reasons to believe that the deceased had life insurance and you are unable to locate it, you can make a request to theOmbudsman for Life and Health Insurance (OLHI).

Given the magnitude of the effort required to carry out such a search and to try to obtain a favourable response to your request, it must meet the following criteria :

  • It must contain a great deal of specific information about the deceased;
  • the available information and clues must be sufficient to suggest the existence of such an insurance policy.

As a general rule, no search will be undertaken by OLHI within three months of the death or more than two years thereafter.
